I’ve always loved the holiday season – that being from Thanksgiving to New Years. In fact, you could even push that back to include Halloween, because growing up as a kid in Valley City, N.D., Halloween was a big deal. With four kids going out trick or treating, we made quite a hall in candy.

Although I'm interested in politics, I'm not what one would consider a "political junkie." I don't need to tune in to every news show or read every single story about each candidate or debate, but I certainly see and read a fair amount.
I’ve somewhat adjusted to the fact that I’m not getting any younger. I know I’m “old,” but I’m not quite yet “ancient,” though some might think so.
Some times your mind wanders. I know mine does. This probably happens more often when I’m trying to come up with a topic for this column.
I must say, the last four week period has been one “high” after another. And it's not a “sugar high” from celebrating Dairy Month at the local Dairy Queen.

I like winter, truly. It's a great season. I'd really miss it if, in my older years, my wife and I thought about moving in our retirement years. So, when that time comes many years from now (unfortunately), I think we'll stick around the area. She might have other thoughts on that though.
